Peach Picking

Every year Harry & David has a great sale on peaches. I look forward to it especially since it's a great way to incorporate the kids in a fun you pick experience and it's as convenient as going to the grocery store. Love having options like this. Last year we canned peaches, this year we will just eat them and make some yummy desserts with them.

We picked about 5 pounds of peaches. I was so shocked. The girls were chucking them into the bags as fast as they possibly could. We were trying to explain that, that will cause them to bruise and get all sticky but they learned that lesson before we had a chance to explain. They had so much fun, and we had fun watching them, of course Alex was putting back the rotten, moldy, completely over ripe and bruised ones that seemed to attract the girls attention. We finally got them to slow down by asking them to find specific peaches like ones with a leaf on the top, or one without any brown spots :)

It was the perfect little outing for us and the girls absolutely adored it, they've been asking ever since when they can have their ice cream. I better get on it. I hope to write up the recipe I use this week and post it for those of you peach ice cream lovin readers.
