Lucy's Eye

We went to the eye doctor today.. and I am happy to say at this point she does NOT have to get her hemangioma removed. It was a pretty long appointment. We ended up getting there early I wasn't sure if they wanted us there early for paperwork etc.

The appointment went just like a normal eye doctor appointment would go. I was so worried about them dilating her little eyes. She did so good, they did two sets of eye drops and then she actually fell asleep for the rest of the appointment. It took 45 minutes to dilate luckily my mom went with me so I had company : ) Once her eyes were dilated they checked to make sure the hemanioma was not putting pressure on the tissue around her eye or damaging her optic nerve, and it isn't. I was so relieved. She did so good at the appointment, she was dead asleep and when they were trying to open her eyes she would smile.. they said usually they just get screaming kiddos, and that Lucy made their day. She made mine too.. ALWAYS : )

At this point she will go in every MONTH.. until they feel it isn't growing or causing harm to anything. I also will be emailing them pictures if I feel it is getting too big.
Sweet girl just slept the whole time.. We had to snap a picture because she was just too precious!

One happy girl again.. like nothin ever happened :)

All in all I am one happy mommy that she doesn't at this point have to have surgery or get steroids injected into the hemangioma. Thanks for all your prayers :)

  1. She is beautiful!!!! So happy to hear that it is not effecting her! My sister had a hemangioma too, but it was on her forehead and was a lot larger than Lucy's. It went away after a couple years and now she has just an itty bitty scar. Lucy is just precious!!!

  2. Awh, thank you Taylor! I have seen many hemangiomas on kids it's pretty common, when they are on the face its not so common or ideal :) but it gives them personality!! Her Dr. said between 18 months to 2 years like you said it will be gone!! I am hoping it just stops growing!! Unfortunately it keeps getting bigger!! Congrats on your baby!! Xoxo
