The big day came and went faster then I could have ever imagined. We had been planning and preparing for WEEEKS even months. I started working on decor earlier this summer in anticipation it would help my procrastinating self get motivated. It really helped because I was able to focus on all the little details. I cannot believe my baby is 1. I think I've heard almost every mom I know say that, but it's so true. She's turning into such a little toddler.
The day started off wonderfully, we all slept in until 7, when she woke up my hubby ran a donut run and picked the birthday girl up some donuts. We didn't want her to have too much since she was going to have quite the sugar rush.
We face timed with the grandmas and then were on our merry little way to start the festivities.. preparing a party. I am so thankful my parents were willing to let us use their house for the party. The hardest part was getting everything over to my parents. Once that was done it was really just the fun part. Decorating. My mom has great stuff too so we mixed and matched old with new. It was too fun.
Trying to sneak in a few photos before all the guests arrived. I promise we both are not THAT white.. or maybe we are ;) Our theme was like I said shabby chic with some gold and pink. So naturally Lucy would wear a white dress to her first birthday where she can get burger and strawberries all over.. and something yellow?? Not sure what that was. It only happens once right? My Aunt got her this puppy and she LOVED it, it was sticking out of the bag and she couldn't wait to open it and play with it, her expression tells the story.
Cake smash.. We stripped her down to nothing but a headband and a tutu ;) we had given her a taste of frosting the day before and she was a big fan! She also was a big fan of the candle. We quickly blew that out! She picked at it quite a bit and then started really digging in! On top of the cake their were gold stars and it was so cute all over her face. AS you all have seen the pictures on IG we got a pretty good one of her enjoying her cake.
This girl LOVED her party. Pretty much everything about it. I couldn't have asked for a better baby girl at her first bday. She loved all the balloons we had strung around the backyard.
Here's a little peek at our food table, and her monthly banner. We had to add an extra table for all the food, we were so thankful we had help preparing all the food. I had always envisioned one LONG big table where everyone eats dinner and we did it. Our wedding was not realistic but this was and I am so happy it finally worked out. It was lovely and everyone was visiting with each other. Such a blessing. I couldn't help but to stop and think how blessed we are as a little family.
This table was my favorite for the whole party. I had also envisioned this table for many months. It came together just like I had hoped. The chandelier is the same one from our wedding, and her shower we've used it for pretty much every party. we had an old wheel barrel next to the table where her gifts were placed. It just looked like a little corner of bliss ;)
This picture is not edited.. and I will also be posting more.. but wanted to share these with you all :)
Thanks for all the love for this baby girl. We love you all!!
xoxo
