Our Weekend Getaway

On Sunday we loaded up the car and headed North up to Portland where we set up camp for the last couple days. I was super excited to get out of town and do some shopping and eat at some of our favorite restaurants. I was a bit nervous and almost bailed out on my hubby last minute about taking both girls on a 5 hour trip but I sucked it up and just went for it.

It honestly was WAY better than I expected. Ellie napped pretty much the entire way up besides one stop to feed her and let Lucy play at a park. Lucy on the other hand was awake the ENTIRE trip. Insert big eyes emoji :) We had planned on getting lunch and letting her crash in the car and getting into Portland in time for her to wake up and for us to go to Ikea. Well she never napped, so we went to Ikea, a double stroller and shopping cart wide on a SUNDAY, not our best move but we had no choice. Once we got all the stuff we needed we loaded the car and headed to the Oregon Zoo, the minute we buckled Lucy into her car seat she was out.. Of course. But we weren't complaining, we knew we had about a 20-30 minute drive which was perfect for her to catnap. Once we got there I fed Ellie and we were on our way. Ready to see all the animals.

Lucy went NUTS at the zoo everything was literally blowing her mind. It was hilarious! I have some videos of her just screaming out of pure excitement when she saw the animals moving. We were able to go with my husbands sister and her family. It was so perfect. Both the girls loved it, and I loved watching both their reactions to the animals and each other.

At the park on the way up to Portland. Best Idea we've had is to stop and go to a park. She loved it!

 Even Ellie Loved the Zoo

The beautiful Flowers were a perfect stop to snap a family photo

After the zoo we went back to my sister in laws BEAUTIFUL house, I kid you not it is AMAZING and ate some dinner and let the girls play with all the toys, because other people's toys are WAY better. After that we were headed back to the hotel where Lucy turned into a little monkey and we jumped on the bed.

It's the best part about staying in a hotel ;)

Day 2 of our getaway hubby was in a conference all day, I mean ALL day. So I actually ran back to Ikea by myself with the two girls. YIKES. It actually wasn't bad at all. I returned some items we didn't need {we basically just threw things in our cart on sunday} and grabbed things we missed. Then I headed back to the hotel for a quick nap. Once naps were over we did some shopping at Nordy's because it was basically next door :)

After that we met up with Liz and her family who I met here on Blogger and Instagram. So cool how this network can introduce you to the sweetest of people you might not have ever met. We had a blast {minus lucy falling off the play structure :/} meeting each other and going to dinner. The guys had a ton of fun talking fire talk since they are both firefighters. We loved every minute. Thank you Liz and Kevin for putting up with my craziness all day :)

The guys had to take a selfie with the babes in tow

The next day it was pack up and load the car and wait for hubby to get done with day 2 of his conference. Throughout the trip I got SUPER good at breastfeeding nearly ANYWHERE, like at a park in the car while Lucy naps, or pumping in the front seat with a cover on while we drove {I'm sure truck drivers were weirded out}.

Every city we go to we try to snap a pic of Lucy & soon to be Ellie in front of the Fire station. It's the hubbys goal to get her to every fire station in every city we go to. He brings patches to trade, it's a pretty fun little hobby for us.

The front of the hotel, it was beautiful, had to capture a pic of Lucy girl!

On the way home we stopped and went into a mall and my phone fell off our stroller, and well we basically considered it stolen, so after 2 hours sitting in one city delaying us from getting back at a reasonable time, we left and cancelled my phone thinking it was LONG gone. That night hubby went out to get me a new phone and I had the BRILLIANT idea to check Eugene Craigslist under lost and found and BAMM there it was. PRAISE THE LORD. The guy was super awesome and gave it back to us. My husbands co-worker actually lives in Eugene and happened to be home and coming into town today and he picked it up and brought it back! AWESOME! I was one lucky girl, Thank you Lord. My husband was not keen on paying 700 to replace my iphone.. Geesh going to duct tape it to my hand :)

Well that's our little getaway, Hope you all had a great weekend and beginning of your week, hopefully I can get on a better blogging schedule, I've been super Lax about it. Hope to get into a groove again.

xoxo
