Fun Date Night Ideas

We try to squeeze away every other week for a little date night. We were terrible about date nights when Lucy was born and it took us until Ellie was about 1 to realize it just needs to happen on the regular basis not just special occasions. Sometimes our date nights line up back to back with other events and that's sort of a bummer but others we try to space out evenly so we are getting out regularly just the two of us. It never fails though when we are out on our date one of us mentions how much the girls would love it. It's hard to get them out of your head ;)

I had been craving these tacos from a specific food truck we had, had a while ago. I swear they are the best in town but we have so many options so I am sure I am wrong. We decided to plan a food truck picnic dinner and bring them to the river to eat them there. You can always eat food outside on a patio but rarely do you get to just take food wherever you wanna go.

We found a perfect little spot along the river to eat.. for like 5 seconds. We instantly got swarmed by mosquito's. I was not in any mood to be eaten alive. So we finished our dinner in the car ;) Super romantic but you gotta be flexible if you wanna be spontaneous right?

After we were done with our tacos I was thinking to myself we can't end the night like this that was a total bust. So on the way home we stopped into Jacksonville and grabbed some .99 ice cream and sat on a park bench and called it good.

Of course that park bench was along a beautiful white picket fence lined with peonies ;) I swear I didn't plan that out. But it made for a wonderful evening with the most perfect scenery.

It doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't have to be a big production or tons of money at the nicest restaurant. It is all about the time you have together. I personally hate spending tons of money on food. I am not a huge food person so nights like these are my jam. My attitude is right because I love simplicity with a whole lot of spontaneity.
