Front Door Update

We have been dying to put in a new front door for a while now and we finally did it! I am in love with how it brightens our home and also gives the outside a fresh new look. I had always wanted a door with windows. I always wanted a 15 paned window front door I loved the farmhouse chic aspect of it and don't even get me started on the dutch front doors. I am still waiting for one of those :)

This was a fairly easy and quick update for us. It helped we had all the tools we needed. And it also helps having a super handy hubby. The way our house is designed we cannot see outside our front door when Liam is asleep so we've needed to update this problem for a while. I wanted to put windows along the sides of the door and above, but with the rock on the side of the door and all the extra framing we would have to go through it just wasn't the right project for us.

We found our door locally and had taken our measurements prior to going looking. Alex brought it home and immediately started working away at it. We took our front door off and drew measurements  on the new one and Alex used a specific tool for drilling out the holes for the dead bolt and handle. Once he had that done he routed out the spots for the hinges. Once he had all that done we screwed everything back together and viola a new front door : )

the next day I went to the paint shop and got paint to paint the door the color I wanted! I still need to get my cornstalks and finish decorating the front porch entryway! My mom always had the best harvest displays outside our house. I hope I can do the same for my kids ;) and yes I need new doormat, already ordered one.. so embarrassed.

Thank you to my supportive hubby for always helping me take my creativity and ideas to life. You are the best.
