Only seemed fitting that we do a 2 week update for miss Ellenah. For those of you who are probably curious her name is pronounced {ELLEN-AH} Almost everyone calls her {Alaina} Once we correct them they almost always go, Oh exactly like it is spelt ;)
We are getting the hang of things over here. Although we still have our nights that are far longer than others we are over the moon that she is here and love each and every day with her. She is following in her sisters footsteps with colic. Unfortunately there's not anything we can do to help her except just hold her and try to soothe her. We did purchase some gripe water but we haven't used it yet. Since she was early I am a little hesitant. We will probably try it this next week.
I have taken all dairy out of my diet, and really a lot of things. I have been eating a very bland diet to try to figure out what is making her upset. Some nights are worse than others. While doing research what we eat can be transferred into our breastmilk from up to 24 hours ago, so it can be impossible to figure out what exactly upset their stomachs. Her pediatrician was super helpful and she just said take out certain things whether it's dairy etc. and if you don't notice any changes in behavior don't kill yourself add it back in. So I am taking her advice.
It usually takes our sweet girl quite a few hours to fall asleep at night. We are lucky if we get to close our eyes before 12 ;) Poor thing seems just miserable and usually nurses for quite a few hours leading up to going to bed, which her pediatrician said will help with colic. I was so worried about keeping Lucy on a strict schedule that I drove myself crazy. With Ellenah we are just enjoying her and giving her what she needs. When she gets a little older 3/4 months we will start focusing on a better schedule.
love baby yawns
Her birth announcements came and I love them :)
You can find them at shutterfly
Even though it takes her a while to go to sleep at night, she's super peaceful and loveable and snugly all day which is so sweet. We love taking naps with her during the day when we can. Usually she naps in her crib or mamaroo. She isn't a huge fan of the carseat since she is so little she literally sinks in.. So I don't like going to many places with her. If we do go anywhere I always bring my bjorn carrier so I get her out of her carseat.
2 Weeks Postpartum for me? I am feeling back to normal almost completely. I am amazed, I remember feeling pretty back to normal by 2 weeks with Lucy. But I truly feel completely healed. Still working on loosing some baby weight, but I feel healthy and I am not going to stress about it instead just focus on eating enough to keep up my milk supply. I gained a total of 22 pounds with Ellenah and I am down 15. That is from exclusively breastfeeding. This week I have been doing a few low low low impact exercises to start getting back into shape. Cannot wait for my first run postpartum :)

You give me hope I can do this, too! :) Happy two weeks, Ellenah!

You are going to do amazing!! I am a little nervous about hubby going back to work so stay tuned! But it's truly the greatest joy!
DeleteSupermom! Good for you girl and I hope you figure out what is causing Ellenah's upset tummy soon. I knew it was Ellen-ah right away, people say the same with Ellie-ah they call her aaliyah (which I actually think is kind of hilarious it's so far off ;) ) xoxo
