This time of year is always hard to keep up with. especially for my blog. It tends to fall behind quite a bit. There's just too many fun things going on. I wanted to write a post though about our weekend because looking back on last years posts about this time of year brings a smile to my face and I know it will next year looking back on this year and seeing how little the girls were. I cherish it so much.
Earlier in the week we made our gingerbread house because the girls spotted it in the pantry. I did my best to set it up so each girl got equal parts toppings to put on the house. (why didn't i buy two) before I knew it Lucy had 7 of them there were only 6 to start with ;)
The moment I caught Ellie taking a bite of the toppings. She stopped chewing and just starred at me like this. She cracks me up.

Our weekend was a hustle and a bustle. Alex worked the majority of it but we still managed to have a ton of fun. In the past I would have been terrified to take the girls anywhere by myself especially a public event where theres lots of people. But as they get older I am getting more and more brave.
Friday we drove to the station my hubby was at and brought them dinner. After dinner we bundled up and headed to the city center with some friends and watched the Christmas tree light up. Lucy was hilarious the lady was thanking everyone for all the support they've had throughout the year to put this event together and Lucy kept saying "just turn it on" I laughed so hard (whoops) and then proceeded to tell her to wait patiently with a high five for being awesome.
Once the tree was lit the fire trucks brought Santa which was just the coolest (from a distance) we had a quick run in with santa at the station and the girls lost their marbles.
After waiting in a lengthy line we had the opportunity to meet and chat with Santa. Lucy caught on really quick that santa was giving away a bag of candy after each kid sat on his lap. So when it was her turn she asked for a treat ;) this kid. Ellie was pissed that I sat her on his lap. She did this the whole time. She was so upset.
Saturday we rushed out the door to get to the festival of trees. Every year we go to this event and it is so much fun. Different local businesses or even just people in the community decorate a tree to be donated to different causes around the valley. I love supporting the event. And every year they do a teddy bear hospital which is just the cutest. The girls got such a kick out of it, they get to pick out a teddy bear and then take an x-ray of the bears heart & put it in an mri machine. So so cute. Ellie really liked checking the bears heart out. Once they get done they tell the paramedics what happened to the bear. Lucy's broke her leg. So they got to fed the bear a honey bear IV while the paramedics bandaged them up. Seriously so cute.
After we did the festival of trees. Lucy caught wind there was live reindeer (idk how ahem Alex) so $15 dollars later we got to meet santa yet AGAIN and eat another candycane and take a great picture of all of us. Oh well it supports the local softball team. We just grouped together all our charities in two hours ;)
the one they printed for us lucy's eyes were half closed & Alex had some things to say about how he looked and Ellie was looking the opposite direction. Thank goodness we paid for them to use our camera too ;) The reindeer in the corner of the picture cracks me up. Wait for it.. bamm reindeer.
Later that day we were able to have a special date night to celebrate my brother in law. He is just fantastic and we love him so much. We were happy to get together to celebrate hi, oh and drink yummy drinks and eat yummy food
love this city in all seasons but especially in the winter when every square inch is covered in lights.
Sunday was spent with my parents. We went to lunch, target and then helped my mom decorate her tree while watching some christmas movies. Perfect end to our weekend that's for sure. I always appreciate all my parents do for us while Alex is working. They sure make his schedule way easier for us.
