Honest Parenting

Okay this post has been in works for a while. I really want to be more open with you all this year and moving forward, I can get so caught up in feeling like I have to have everything put together. I realized a whole lot is out of my control and trying to force it to be in my control is not beneficial for anyone. Do you ever feel like there's this pressure that is put on by our society to have it together, or you have failed. The feeling is there, wether it's legit or not. I feel like I'll get comments from strangers at the store or feel the eyes drawing my attention when my child is misbehaving? Instead of lending a helpful hand or encouragement. Some days are much harder to shake than others. So I wanted to share some ways, I have learned through wonderful resources, to stop that pressure from getting to me.

I have three kids now, that's no secret and they are all beautiful blessings. I now have to split my time three ways on any given day with three very different ages. With all three needing me at all times. Some days I fail, somedays I am physically, emotionally and mentally tired and guess what?

THAT'S OKAY

It is more than okay to accept, that some days you just aren't going to be your best. Some days if you make it to the end of the day and the kids are happy, fed, in bed, bathed with their teeth brushed you did it {even if none of the later happened ;)}. I never allowed myself to believe this for so many years. I would drive myself to my breaking point every day. Making sure everyday was just as good as the day before. If it wasn't, I would get upset and feel like I failed. This was so unhealthy and wore me down further every day. Do not let the pressures of having everything put together all the time get you to this point. Don't let the Instagram photos teach you, you are doing it wrong. Do not let your perception of other moms parenting skills and their kids make you doubt your ability, or your Childs ability. Do not let the comments from strangers bring you down. Teach your eyes to focus on the good, teach your heart to be happy for others even when life is crummy for you. These have been very helpful for me.

It is so hard not to compare. Now more than ever comparison is at our finger tips every minute of everyday. When I am weak and I feel insecure about myself or parenting that day, Social media is not the place for me. Instead finding ways to gain some positive encouragement however that applies to you will help you feel better about your situation and self.

Once again when we are weak HE IS SRONG, all the time. Through the trials of the day the Lord will provide, He will bring us through and He will not fail us.

I cannot stress it enough that it is OKAY to not have your life together every minute of every day. Embrace the messy, embrace the meltdowns and embrace the wonderful responsibility you've been given to raise these beautiful children, and do it to YOUR best ability. Not the ability you think you should have. Embrace the good days and the horribly bad days, they are both a blessing. One is enjoyable and pleasant the other is when God grows us and makes us stronger.

Acts 27:22

But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.

Do not worry about that ship in your life because we are not lost, we have a Father in heaven who we are FOUND in.
