Prepping for the Fourth

Yes I know it's still June but the fourth is one of those summer holidays that really sneaks up and is over before you know it. This 4th of July is especially exciting for us because it is the very first 4th of July Alex and I will spend together MARRIED! I have been looking forward to this one for a while. I knew last year we would (fingers crossed) be able to spend it together and I already had a whole list of things I wanted to do. Now I wasn't planning on being pregnant for our first 4th together but I am excited non the less to spend the day with my love and our girls. They are at THEEE best ages and I cannot wait to experience all the festivities together.

Not only will Alex be home but my two brothers are going to be home for a wedding they are attending and my heart can hardly handle all the goodness that's in store. Now we don't have tons of plans yet BUT we have got our decorations up and it makes me excited looking at them. I usually just pick up all the little 4th of July swag from the dollar spot at target (and I will still probably do that) and i've built quite a collection of beads, star sunglasses, ribbons & bows and really everything over the years and it's fun to mix and match.

Today I wanted to share a simple little way to add some festiveness to your home. I know i've said it before but my mom always made every holiday so fun and festive for me and I wanted nothing more than to grow up and do the same for my kids. My mom was the one who would buy bulk candy prior to the 4th of July parades and chuck it into the street so the kids could all go pick it up since most the floats threw out a tootsie roll and called it good, this lady knew it wasn't enough ;) I owe it to her and my grandma to make holidays a blast.

BACK TO MY DECOR

I came across this adorable 4th of July Felt Ball Garland and that's where it all began. I knew it was the perfect addition to our dining room to give it just the right amount of fest without over doing it. The girls LOVE LOVE it and I honestly don't know if we will take it down for a while ;) I ordered the garland and it was in my mailbox 2 days later, love ordering from them such a great company.

This spot in our house is where we dwell MOST. We eat all our meals at our table and the girls snack all day so they end up spending even more time here. I wanted to create a festive little spot to make some yummy (non-alcoholic) drinks for family and friends. The Cheerios are my easy go to in the mornings for the girls and I fill up my trusted anthro bowls and they are good to go.

I've linked where you can get this 4th of July Look below

Hostest with the mostest right here

I love sparkling water, juice wine you name it if it's bubbly I am all over it and our house is usually always stocked up on San Pellegrino and Izze Juice. These yummy drinks are the perfect ones to stock up on if you are hosting a 4th of July BBQ they are tasty and everyone is sure to love them.

I usually just pour them over ice and add lime to them, the lime juice gives it a great flavor and makes me feel like I may be indulging in an adult beverage ;) Even though the sugar count can be quite high in some of these it's always a nice and refreshing treat.

Hope you've enjoyed this festive little post, would love to hear how you will decorate for the 4th

xoxo
